JSEF Signal Article: November 2017

Each month, Board member Billie Davis shares the latest news with readers of the Crockett Signal newspaper and our web site. Keep up on our newest accomplishments and upcoming events.

The best part about raising funds is that we get to give it to our students! We voted to help Ms. Monroe’s CFS students with their field trip to the Disney Museum at San Francisco’s Presidio. Ms. Paulson’s 2nd-grade class has made a request for three different items through Donor’s Choose. It is so satisfying to be able to “seed” her requests, and then encourage the families, friends, and other supporters to recognize the needs of her class; then they go online (as you can, too) and contribute as much as they can to make their children’s educational experience that much richer. Additionally, we were pleased to be involved with the high school PTA’s bocce tournament. All this activity takes so much energy—but it comes back ten-fold when we see what good it does for our schools and our community.

Our next fundraising gig is our 11th Adult Prom! We’re in the process of making sure all you Bunnies and Casanovas have a primo 1970’s funkadelic step into the past. We’re getting psyched! We are so keen to make this night Right On. I’m’ certain your calendar is already dedicated to boogie on down to the Community Center on November 18th. Tickets are easily nabbed at our website https://www.johnswettef.org. But don’t wait—we sold out last year! Pre-purchase online--$30, table of 10---$30 (includes a gift), plus on-site reserved sitters $15/child) will guarantee you the time of your life. Then go to the back of your closet to find those flower power ties, fab bell-bottom pants or tie dye jumpsuits; don’t forget those peace sign rings and necklaces.

Once again you’ll be able to unwind at our swell no-host bar while you admire the stellular deserts that will be up for auction after you dine on a beautifully up-to-date catered dinner. You’ve come to expect the best silent auction items—and we won’t let you down. There will be plenty of time to bid on primo items from keen necessities to out-of-sight fantasticals. And all that mullah gives you what you crave, and gives our students what they need. Good vibes all around.

As the evening beat goes on, you can relive those precious moments of getting down to the hip sounds from bands—Elton John, David Bowie, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, and more. And I know, from previous experience, at closing time no one will want to leave!

Log on to our website https://www.johnswettef.org/ to see what’s going on.

As always, our focused JSEF meetings are held in the District Offices. The next meeting will be a week early as we wrap up last minute details for the party you’re sure to enjoy. (November 13) at 7:00. Please come to take part, join, or simply witness.

May the force be with you!
